T8: The Canadian Fighting Game Championships - The New Age Friday July 13th - Sunday July 15th, 2008
| July 13, 2008 3:00 pm | to | July 15, 2008 3:00 pm |
This huge tournament, which is being held north of the border, is being planned for July 13th -July 15th, 2008. So in other words gang you’ve more then six months to train, and hone your skills. By the way I heard that there are some bad females in Canada ( when I say bad I men “HOT”.)

“DATE: Friday July 13th - Sunday July 15th
LOCATION:
York Cove

T8 PRE-REGISTRATION PAGE
The Canadian Fighting Game Championships are going through a change of format this year as the tournament moves to a console environment. Local players will note that York Cove is actually an arcade and therein lies the beauty of this event. All side and main event games will be played on console while existing Japanese Vs Cabinets will be used for casual play. Furthermore, the Cove is equipped with pool tables, fooz ball tables, and 25 Personal Computers if you’re not in the mood for video games. The Cove also sports a Bubble Tea Shop in house along with a snack bar if Bubble Tea isn’t to your liking.
Cove is maintained within York University. As such, players will not longer have to venture far to get any assortment of food. York University has an assortment of restaurants of the multicultural variety. It also sports more familiar restaurants including:
Popeye’s Chicken
Wendy’s
Subway
KFC/Taco Bell
As you can see, this is a vast change from ORBIT Entertainment in year’s past where variety outside of East Asian cuisine was limited without a long walk or driving a few minutes. We hope that the players will enjoy York Cove as the new home of the Canadian Championships for the forseeable future.
CHECK OUT SYSTEM
A system will be put in place between T8 Staff and the players to register equipment that is on loan (TV’s, consoles, sticks) to ensure that theft (as sad as it is to see) is not a factor. We strongly encourage players to keep an eye on their equipment but I’m sure we can all agree that tracking equipment in and out of the venue is best for all parties.
SITE FEE
There is a $10 one time fee for every player to cover the cost of renting what is usually a public venue for the weekend. THIS FEE WILL BE ENFORCED REGARDLESS OF WHETHER A PLAYER IS ENTERING A TOURNAMENT OR NOT. Considering cost of venue and expected turnout, I already know that the party renting the venue (me) is taking a loss on this event. I do this for the good of the Canadian community and the SF scene as a whole so please come out and support your scene (and save my wallet from horrible rape).
GAME ROSTER
The Canadian Championships is sporting it’s largest roster to date with 12 games total. Also, if players feel that a game should be entered as a side tournament AND it can meet the 16 player requirement that all Side Tournaments face, they are welcome to bring it to T Tourney staff and we will add it to the roster. Please note, that unless the directors can attest to the game having the necessary turnout on SRK, or on the day of the tournament, new submissions will not be permitted.

Sunday
As is traditionally the case, the Sunday will be used as a carry over day should any tournaments not be able to finish on Saturday night. Please note that the venue is rented through closing on Sunday so all cabinets will be free to play on and whatever free TV’s (as long as there is no tournament requirement) are free for people to play on as well. Basically it’s a giant casual day with free games for everyone.
PRIZE DISTRIBUTION – OFFICIAL TOURNAMENTS:
All tournaments will have a distribution of 70/20/10. There are no cuts to the management or any of that other stuff.
Whatever goes into the pot, goes back out to the players.
PRIZE DISTRIBUTION – SIDE/UNOFFICIAL TOURNAMENTS:
All tournaments will have a distribution of 80/20. There are no cuts to the management or any of that other stuff. Whatever goes into the pot, goes back out to the players.
Bracket Directors:
Mvc2: g3nn
Cvs2: Noodleman
3s: Phastestpig
AC: X-sapphire
T5: NeoRussell
XvSF: Shiro
Other Tournaments: TBA (this will be updated as more players step up to direct)
If you would like to help out in any of the events, please let me know.
This will truly be the biggest and best T Tournament that anyone has ever seen. I look forward to seeing lots of old faces and new ones from across Canada and The United States.
HOTEL INFORMATION
We are continuing to compile a list of hotels/motels close to the venue. At the present time the T8 staff would recommend using:
The Super 8 Toronto North
3400 Steeles Avenue W
Toronto, ON
L4K 1A2 CA
It is under a five minute drive from the venue. Hell if you get 2 green lights it’s under a 2 minute drive from the venue. It’s the best spot for distance and price. There are tons of restaurants around it. It’s also located close to multiple strip malls and major malls.
I will have other options being introduced soon in case people want something nicer.
T8 IS COMING!”
